This week, I planned on writing a newsletter that would hopefully inspire, produce hearty laughter, evoke nostalgia, and simply make people feel.
However, there were several interesting topics to cover. Here in good old Jersey, (New that is), we had an earthquake on Friday, a tradeshow Saturday, and an eclipse Monday — btw that was seen outside of N.J. as well.
The 4.8 magnitude quake was the most significant in New Jersey since 1783. It came and went quickly, but the aftershocks endured.
According to the Earthquake Magnitude Scale a 2.5-to-5.4 are often felt, but only cause minor damage, and there are about 500,000 yearly.
The eclipse transpired April 8th. Here, we experienced a partial solar overshadowing of about 90 percent on Monday afternoon. It began at 2 p.m., and by approximately 3:18 p.m., most of the sun was covered.
The tradeshow, while not being potentially cataclysmic or capturing the attention of millions, was a meaningful event for the exhibitors and attendees. We learned about holistic oneness and the importance of adapting to evolving forms of nutrition, (including a mushroom coffee alternative), healthcare, and appreciating the flexibility of those who are open minded.
There is something to be said about the infliction of unintended consequences. Whether you seek answers in the curious occurrence of natural events or the inclusion of progressive thought is not the point. Sometimes it takes an outside force to shake up the encased snow globes we all inhabit. So, let us all buckle up and prepare for those brighter skies on the horizon.
DID YOU KNOW? The first recorded total solar eclipse was in 1778, according to NASA.
